The work that NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado does is important to me personally because my mother faced an unintended pregnancy before Roe v. Wade.  She gave the baby up for adoption and it has haunted her ever since.  I met my half sister once but her anger at my mother at giving her up for adoption meant that any relationship between us was impossible.  I recently asked my mother if she would have had an abortion if it had been legal then and she says she would have:  “I think it would have been easier for me to do that (have an abortion).  I was alone and scared and had no family support.  I couldn’t go home to have the baby because my mother was an alcoholic and I couldn’t subject my child to her.  It was a scary time for me and it’s not something I would wish on any other human being.”  There are women all around me with similar stories and I want to be sure that in the future my daughter has a choice.
