Kathryn's Corner: May 2007 Insider Update
We Want to Hear from You! Dear Friends, Thanks so much to all of you who have supported our legislative efforts this session, our ongoing community organizing and outreach efforts, and our recent choice celebration and auction. At our celebration, we honored three outstanding Colorado leaders in women’s reproductive rights: Senator Betty Boyd (D-21, Lakewood); Meg Froelich, outgoing NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado board member; and Natasha Lamoreaux, outgoing President of NARAL Pro-Choice Auraria. Each of these women exemplifies the qualities necessary to build and support social movements to protect our basic civil liberties and rights, including leadership and vision, courage and commitment, persistence and patience, along with a whole lot of work! We are grateful to each of them for their important work to support women’s reproductive rights and health care. Now we need your help to continue to build the reproductive rights movement in Colorado. At NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado, we're developing a new statewide strategy to expand our work with our members, activists, volunteers, and donors. We'll be traveling across the state, and we would love to visit your community to get your advice on how we carry out our work more effectively. We want to hear from you about the challenges you're facing in your communities with regard to your reproductive rights and health care. What issues are most important to you and how can we help you address them? For example, do you lack access to quality health care and/or health insurance? Is the cost of contraception burdensome to you? Are you able to get the education and information you need to make informed reproductive health care decisions? Do you have access to emergency contraception in your community? What other reproductive rights and health care issues are you concerned about? We would love to hear your stories and your suggestions about how we can work better and more closely with you. Please write to us at choice@prochoicecolorado.org. Thanks so much! For choice, Kathryn Wittneben, Executive Director
