Re-Defining Pregnancy

Pro-Choice Legislation:
Emergency Contraception Pharmacy Access

Bill Number:  HB 1212 [ view bill ]
Status:  Gov. Owens Vetoed the bill on April 13
Sponsor(s):  Rep. Boyd and Sen. Veiga

Emergency Contraception is a form of birth control that can prevent pregnancy when taken up to five days after unprotected sex. The Emergency Contraception Pharmacy Access bill allows women direct access to emergency contraception through their local pharmacies. Improved access to emergency contraception reduces the need for abortion.

Re-Defining Pregnancy

Bill Number:  HCR 1013 [ view bill ]
Status:  Defeated on party-line vote in House Judicary
Sponsor(s):  Rep. Lundberg

According to the medical definition of pregnancy, a woman is pregnant only after a fertilized egg implants in her uterus. HCR 1031 is a blatant, faith-based measure that would re-define pregnancy as beginning at conception.
