Formulating a Letter to the Editor A letter to the editor is one of the most effective ways to express your support for choice. Below are some tips and newspaper listings with all the contact information you need. If you would like to write to a publication not listed, please call Keira Stearns at 303-394-1973 ext. 15 and we will get you all necessary contact information. Tips: • Type or write legibly. • Be concise (200 words is a good rule of thumb). • Clearly state your point. • Where possible, refer to editorials or articles that the paper has printed. • Provide a headline for your letter; otherwise, the paper will choose one for you that may not reflect the meaning that you intended. • When sending in your letter, you may choose to send it by email, fax, or post. (Email is the best) Always include your contact information with your letter, including name, address, and day and night time phone numbers. The newspaper will not print your phone information but they need to call you to verify that the letter is yours before printing it. If you are emailing your letter, be sure to copy and paste it in-text and to not "attach" it to your email. • Please also send us a copy of your letter to: NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado, 1905 Sherman, Ste 800, Denver, CO 80203, Attn: Keira Stearns. You may also email it to kstearns@prochoicecolorado.org or fax it to 303-388-1692. Tell us what newspaper(s) you send it to, and try to cut out a copy of the letter if you see that it gets printed. Where to send your letter: • Send a copy of your letter to The Denver Post and/or The Rocky Mountain News. • Also send it to local papers in your area.
